With regard to designing and drawing approval, we always aim to construct safe and high-quality ships for national and international shipowners as well as MOL and its affiliates through our excellent staff members.
We check that the function and performance meets the content of specification agreed with the shipyards and the contract. Furthermore, the MOL safety standard is applied and our customer's requests are reflected in the final product. We clarify inconsistencies by repeatedly exchanging comment sheets, using strict document control revision policies to filter out discrepancies. We carry out technical reviews to ensure adequate specifications are met and changes are understood.
The important role of Ship Design Division is to confirm basic performance of new ships. We attend to factories in liaison with superintendents, carry out shop tests of main engines and generators and also check accuracy of large-size equipment, thereby ensuring their specification/performance.
We confirm that radio and navigation equipment are fitted in accordance with contracted specification and approved drawings. In addition, we check the arrangement of the equipment in terms of operation and maintenance.
As construction progresses, we carry out an inspection during the outfitting period in cooperation with supervising groups of MOL and report defective points asking shipyards for improvement, thereby establishing a system which enables improvement. Finally, we attend various onboard tests at the sea trial and check the guarantee speed and performance of equipment.
